Indian Rides was founded by Narendra Singh Nirvan and Gopika. What began as a personal passion has grown into a family-run company welcoming riders from around the world.
A lot has changed since 2006, but the personal involvement behind each journey has remained as such, giving that touch of perfection. Guests speak to the people who plan their journey. On the road, they travel with a team that knows their names and understands what brought them to India.
Narendra and Gopika want travellers to see more than a series of famous places. They want them to understand the country through the roads between those places and through the people they meet along the way.
Sometimes that understanding begins over tea at a roadside stop. Sometimes it comes from staying in a family-run haveli or spending time in a village that rarely appears on a standard itinerary. These moments cannot always be scheduled, but a smaller and more thoughtful journey makes room for them.
The motorcycle makes this possible. There is no window separating the rider from the country, and there is always a reason to stop when the road becomes interesting.
It began with a feeling
A journey shaped by roads, people, and unforgettable moments.
Narendra has always been curious about where a road might lead. That curiosity has taken him across India and much farther from home.
On one remarkable journey, he drove from Jaipur to Paris along the Silk Route. Covering that distance overland gave him a different understanding of what a journey could be. The road itself mattered as much as arriving in Paris.
In 2006, Narendra turned that instinct into Indian Rides. He began designing motorcycle journeys for travellers who wanted to encounter India from the road instead of observing it from a distance.
He remains closely involved today. Narendra plans the routes and leads tours himself. Much of the journey is spent riding alongside the guests. His warmth sets the tone from the first meeting, while his experience helps the group settle into roads that may feel unfamiliar at first.
His view of India by motorcycle is still best expressed in his own words:
“There is only one way to see the real India: on the back of a motorcycle.”
The Craftsmanship Behind Every Journey
Expert planning, local knowledge and dedicated support, every step of the way.
By the time a rider arrives in India, months of work may already have gone into the journey.
Narendra draws on years of riding across the country when he plans a route. He understands how quickly conditions can change and where a long riding day needs space to breathe.
Gopika looks after the organisation around the ride and stays in close contact with guests before they arrive. Her attention makes the unfamiliar parts of travelling through India feel easier to approach.
On the road, they are supported by people who have worked with Indian Rides for years. The mechanic knows the motorcycles inside out, and the support driver stays close enough to help without taking over the experience.
Before each departure, the route is checked, and the motorcycles are serviced. Places to stay are chosen because they belong to the journey, not simply because they are convenient. Some are former palaces or old merchant homes. Others are small properties where the welcome matters as much as the room.
Much of this work stays out of sight. That is intentional. Riders should be able to give their attention to the road, knowing the practical details have already been considered.
